Why Home Security Is Important To Me

Why Home Security Is Important To Me The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseHome security is something that is of the utmost importance to me. Our area has been having a spate of home burglaries recently and to keep peace of mind, I like to know that my home is completely secure. You hear about these things happening and think that it will never happen to you – I’m not going to take that chance.

One of my older son’s school friends had his home broken into and they managed to steal the car keys and take the family car as well as some other items from around the house. Having been burgled many years ago and subsequently never feeling safe after it and moving a few months later I am all to aware that mental damage being broken into can cause.

Taking Steps To Secure You Home

There are steps you can take to ensure your home is fully secure though. Something to consider is ensuring all doors and windows are completely locked when leaving your property for the day.

Whilst in the property, you may want your windows open but leave them on their catches – that way you can still enjoy the fresh breeze but no one can get in through them as they potentially could if you leave them wide open.

Make sure you are locking up completely at night, pulling across all latches and deadbolts if you have them.

Something else to consider is a home security system. Whether you choose to opt for closed circuit television or a home alarm, having them in place should give you peace of mind as you will know if someone who shouldn’t be there is on your property.

Home security is so important and something that shouldn’t be shirked on. I’ve even written posts before on my top home security tips as I am passionate about keeping my home and family safe.

Why Home Security Is Important To Me The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThere are plenty of ways to keep your home safe from intruders and one is not having valuable items on display. Obviously certain items will be visible through the windows if someone does look in – people would be expecting to see TV’s as it is very unlikely a household wouldn’t have one. However, a TV is quite a big item to try and get out of a house unnoticed so often home invaders will choose smaller, easier to conceal items. It might be tempting to leave tablets or portable game consoles lying around but these are like a red rag to a bull. They’re easy to pick up and hide and are one of those things you won’t necessarily notice is missing right away.

Keys and cash are also items that people bizarrely leave in view. With the increases in technology, you shouldn’t be leaving keys near windows and doors anyway due to most cars being keyless now – there’s been numerous burglaries where the thieves have managed to steal the car using a device that boosts the signal from the key to the car. Why put yourself and your property at risk by leaving it in plain sight?

Why Home Security Is Important To Me The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseHome security is so incredibly important to me because I have worked hard to get to where I am and buy the items I have in my home. Some have sentimental meaning behind them, some don’t but to lose any would feel like a large violation of not only my home but my life. Do you feel the same?
