Recently we had the pleasure of taking delivery of some new bikes for the boys and the whole house got excited. After all for us as parents we think that riding a bike is a lifeskill that all children need to learn to do as its part of every childhood and Sir Chris Hoy’s new range of bikes at Evans Cycles is based on exactly this thought process.

We were lucky enough recently to take delivery of 2 HOY bikes ourselves for the boys to get them out and about in the fresh air
Joshua was sent a HOY Bonaly bike, named after the area of the Pentland Hills where a younger Sir Chris Hoy first rode his mountain bike this stunning bike is built with children in mind. As children ride differently to adults the tweaks that have been made to this bike have been based on making it easier and more comfortable for children to ride.
They have reduced this bikes weight making it a really lightweight frame, added extra padding to the seat and it has narrower cranks putting the feet closer together, not overstitching the legs and to be honest Joshua can bike for miles with this beauty, not only is it aesthetically pretty but Joshua says its immensely comfortable too so it’s a winner in my book.
The HOY Bonaly Mountain bike currently retails at £480+ and comes in 2 colour options.
The second bike we were sent was the HOY Napier Balance Bike (RRP £110 and comes in 4 colour options) for Jacob to start his bike riding journey. The HOY Napier Runner Bike is styled after the BMX bikes of Sir Chris Hoy’s early BMX club racing days and is named after the Napier school yard where Sir Chris Hoy learned to ride his first bike.
There are some lovely features on the bike with its grab handle on the seat for helping to steady the rider. It also comes in handy for carrying the bike when your little one is tired after an afternoon of fun.
I loved this little bike, because that is exactly what it is a bike, no gimmicky toy pieces or overly plastic crap it’s a lightweight easy to manurer balance bike ideal for the first stage of learning the lives kill, bike riding.
Thanks Evans Cycles for allowing us to take a better look at 2 of the bikes from the HOY range. We are thrilled and can’t wait to get out and about on some proper bike rides soon as I think bike riding is a lifeskill that all kids should learn. Helping to build strength, coordination, balance and confidence not to mention its lots of fun!

It’s fun teaching kids to ride a bike isn’t it? Such a big milestone! Oddly though. of the twins, Ellie’s really taken to it but Jake is still struggling! Something to do with centre of gravitry, probably.
