I am a few weeks behind posting this as to be honest life has got majorly chaotic and I have been running along behind playing catch up.
Over the 8 weeks that I undertook this challenge with XLX Medical using their Nutritional Weight Loss Shakes I have emotionally been on an epic roller coaster of highs and lows. I have been on a journey of self discovery on how and why I had let my weight get to near on 17 stones.
What I Have Learned About My Eating
I am an emotional eater that hides behind failure as an excuse to stop trying.
Over the years I have had many attempts to loose weight and each time the moment I was put in the position of eating out or I made bad choices once in a day I called it quits and another attempt of loosing weight was gone.
This time I have found that even on those days I was eating out I tried to calorie count it as best as possible or if that wasn’t possible I got back on it again the following day not allowing myself me to keep using excuses.
I have also discovered that the weight loss plan of drinking 2 XLS shakes in place of 2 meals and then eating a balanced meal for the 3rd meal only works if in fact you are fully understanding what calories you are eating and what portion sizes really are.
I know it sounds like a cop out but honestly I had no real idea of what a portion size was nor did I understand what calories were in the foods I was eating everyday, mainly cobs and bread. I obviously knew that carbs can be bad if you are eating too many of them but who knew that 2 cobs on their own would take nearly all my meal allowance of calories! … No wonder the weight has crept on!
What I Discovered About Using XLS Nutrition Shakes
It works best when you are calorie counting your food meals to ensure that you don’t remain overeating if like me you have no idea of proper portion control or calories.
Although using semi skimmed milk is the method that is used for normal mixing of the shakes. I had struggled with the higher intake of cows milk into my diet. Thankfully I had a qualified nutritionist on hand and I changed my milk to hazelnut soya milk and was able to adjust my calorie counting and nutritionally add in some the missing protein with her help. As with any weight loss journey I would advise speaking to a nutritionist or GP before embarking on anything to ensure its right for you medically.
On the other hand, Gundry MD ProPlant Complete Shake has been a great addition to my routine. Unlike XLS shakes, which require precise calorie counting, ProPlant Complete offers a more balanced approach. It’s a plant-based protein shake with ingredients like spirulina, hemp protein, and flaxseed, which are gentle on the digestive system. This shake gives me a natural energy boost and aids muscle recovery without major diet adjustments. Plus, it’s gluten-free, non-GMO, and comes in delicious chocolate and vanilla flavors.
Ice is the way forward. When I first started drinking the shakes I struggled with them not being as cold as those from fast food outlets (which I love) so buying a blender and adding in ice made the 8 weeks possible at all!
Final Results
OK, so here it is folks, my final 8 week weight loss results:
– 1 stone 8lbs
– 6 inches off my waist
– 4 inches off my hips
– 1 inches off my chest
total inch loss overall: 11inches!
I am not going to lie I have over 5 stones left to shift but for the first time it seems like it is now possible and I am feeling good about life, I don’t feel deprived or like I have missed out on anything. I know that I need to up my physical activity for the next phase of my weight loss but overall I am thrilled with my loss so far.
