Recently we were thrilled to get to try out the brand new Britax Römer DUALFIX i-SIZE car seat with Jacob and have been eagerly awaiting its arrival.
The Britax Römer DUALFIX i-SIZE car seat is designed for use from birth (with the newborn insert provided) up to approximately age 4. Although being an i-size seat it means that it works with babies and children up to a height measurement of 40cm-105cm and weight 0-18 kgs as opposed to age.
The seat has a 360 degree rotation so it can be used in rear facing and forward facing modes and can also be twisted for ease of access getting baby in and out.
it has superior side impact protection thanks to the integrated SICT technology, which is important for the compulsory side impact test in the newest and current R129 legislation. Furthermore, the shell is deep around the sides of the seat therefore offering a cocoon effect. Both of these key features offer maximum protection for your precious little one.
The seat can be easily reclined in both the rear facing and forward facing modes using the squeeze handle located underneath the seat. It also has an easily adjustable headrest with integrated harness that makes it super easily to adjust to the correct height.
There are several features that help making the installation of the seat really easy and I was thrilled with just how easy installing the seat was since its rather bulky and cumbersome I so I expected the worst. It installs in the car using the ISOFIX points and comes with some ISOFIX covers that help separate the car seat materials to have easy access to the ISOFIX points.
After extending the ISOFIX legs on the DUALFIX i-SIZE you slide them in each side till they click and the ISOFIX connectors on the seat show green. Then extend the leg of the car seat until it fully our and then squeeze the buttons on the support leg to extend that until the green marker on the bottoms shows you have correctly installed the seat. The final part of the installation is to adjust the rebound bar and angle this into the car seat back.
The DUALFIX i-SIZE car seat also has the Britax Römer Pivot Link ISOFIX System built-in and in case of an impact the patented Pivot Link ISOFIX System directs the force downwards first into the car own seat and then forward which means it greatly reduces the risk of head and neck injuries for children.
I fell in love with the seat as soon as it arrived with is luxurious feeling fabrics and deep protective sides but once fitted I loved it even more.
I wanted to rear face Jacob (who is 2) for as long as possible and this seat certainly does that as there is still lots of room for him to grow into the seat. Add that to the easy to rotate function and making getting him in and out the seat and I am totally hooked. I no longer have to wrestle my octopus of a toddler up and over to get him in the seat he literally just slides in now and the 5 point harness is a dream to fasten.
