A little while back we were asked to take a look at reviewing some new toys on the block and we were excited to get to play so jumped at the chance.
Story Stars are super soft cuddly toys that can read stories to your child, sing songs, and can even playback your own recorded messages, they also have a projector inside that projects colourful lights onto the ceiling and there are five to collect: Toby Tales (Monstersaur), Teddi Tales (Bear), Luby Lullaby (Mermaid), Kori Story (Monkey) and Freddie Fable (Explorer).
I loved the quirky and bright look that they have and found the instructions easy to understand on the box.
For this toy there is a large part of it tied to being used with an app as you have to pre load the toys with stories and melodies so you will have to sign up to a free account.
Within the app you build a playlist specifically for your child as there are 11 free stories and 10 songs inside the app and if you want to you can record a personalised message in there too!

One thing I didn’t do properly was adjust the sound levels of the songs before downloading the play list to the toy, if you don’t do this they will record at the loudest setting (and so far the only way I have discovered to turn it down is to redo the play list with a reduced sound. – This would be super helpful if either the app or the toys instructions reminded parents to do this first.
Uploading, although not as speedy as an iPod it was still rather quick and you only have to do this once, unless you want to change your playlist on the toy.
Joshua loved the Story Stars super easy to function buttons on his tummy and loved how robust he is, since every Story Star wants to play parachutes from out his midi sleeper, right?!

The colourful lights on his tummy were rather soothing and made for really lovely patterns on the ceiling.
All in all they have been lovely toy additions to the household.
