Beating The Christmas Anxiety: Can I Fit In My Dress?

Beating The Christmas Anxiety: Can I Fit In My Dress? The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseIt’s almost the end of September! The end of the year flies by as soon as kids are back to school after the summer break. Soon, it’ll be Halloween, Guy Fawkes, and then Christmas. With an eventful last trimester to the year, it is fair to say that you are probably already planning the family reunion for Christmas in your mind.

Unfortunately, while the family Christmas dinner is a lovely tradition, it is also a source of stress for many busy mums in the UK. As if planning and cooking everything wasn’t enough, you know you will also have to be scrutinised and criticised by your relatives.

“Have you put on weight recently?”

“Oh dear, you look so tired.”

“You should take better care of yourself.”

Beating The Christmas Anxiety: Can I Fit In My Dress? The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseAs much as we love them, relatives often have a knack for saying truths you are not prepared to hear. Comments on your appearances tend to be more hurtful than they realise. So, here’s the real question you’re asking yourself as you are mentally playing the scene: Can I actually lose some weight before Christmas?

The real answer is that losing weight will probably not put an end to the comments. They may just criticise you for being too skinny. What you want is to feel good in your skin. Here are some tips that can help your self-confidence:

Upgrade your bedroom

A good night’s sleep can transform your mood and approach to the day. Simple things can make a huge difference, such as changing the bedroom decor and switching the old bed for a quality model.

How does sleep prevent comments on your appearance?

Experts recommend, on average, 8 hours of sleep. While you sleep, your immune system can work. Sleep decreases levels of stress hormones, which can increase wrinkled and tiredness. It also encourages cell renewal so your skin is clear and refreshed.

Start a fitness routine

Exercising regularly can dramatically improve your posture and tone your muscles. Even if you don’t lose weight by Christmas, your gait will naturally appear stronger, more alert, and more confident. If you are concerned about your appearance, your gait only can take years and kilos off your body!

If you still wish to obtain visible results, fitness trainers recommend weight lifting routines. Weight lifting will not make you bulky. But it will increase muscle mass, which in turn can straighten your posture and increase weight loss. Fitness enthusiasts also use specialist supplements for getting ripped fast if this is the kind of result you are after. However, if you rely on exercise for weight loss only, you are at risk of overworking yourself. Create a sensible schedule that leaves plenty of rest time too.

What if I don’t fit in the dress?

Then you will fit into another dress. Focusing on weight only can be harmful as it could lead to extreme crash diets and a negative self-image. If you wish to start a self-improvement journey, don’t let weight blind you. You can look and feel better by Christmas without necessarily losing weight. Building strength, resting, and improving muscle health can completely transform self-confidence. Sometimes starting to take care of yourself is the only thing you need to do to shut down the critics!
