We decided that this year we were going to make the most of every opportunity to get quality time as a family and it has been an epic summer, but with funds dipping low, family days out were going to be lacking, because after all kids cost money, even when days out are not on the cards.

We recently took a road trip to see what we could spend £30 on during a family day out, so headed off to Filey on the Yorkshire Coast and bought all the essentials needed for a seaside; buckets, spades, sand shapes, footballs, fishing nets and there was even enough left for ice-cream!
Although family outings are not cheap they are the stuff that childhoods are made off and with sunshine and no rain a day out was what we all needed.
On the beach the boys loved fossil hunting and digging moats and Jacob particularly loved knocking down sandcastles instead of building them back up.
