Choosing Different Wooden Flooring Types For Your Home

Choosing Different Wooden Flooring Types For Your Home The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseYou might have seen my recent posts about all the different home renovations we’ve been doing. I started off with a lick of paint and then we had our kitchen revamped. We’ve been considering what we may do next, renovation wise. Something we have considered is getting new flooring but there are so many types out there. It can be difficult to know where to begin. But for our kitchen we are thinking that wooden flooring of some kind is the way forward.

Engineered Flooring

One such flooring type that has caught our eye is engineered flooring. It is a type of flooring that has grown in popularity in recent years over the traditional wood flooring. Engineered flooring is comprised of multiple layers of compressed timber, finished with a top layer of solid wood veneer. It ends up looking as good as traditional wood flooring but with the knowledge that you also have that extra stability. A great option all round.

Solid Wood Flooring

Solid wood flooring is another type we have considered. Although it is not as stable as the more modern engineered flooring, it is absolutely beautiful and natural (made from 100% wood product) and is the right choice for you if you want your home to have a nice warm and rustic feel.

Of course there are a variety of other flooring types that we need to consider too, although these are our top two. Parquet flooring is something I’ve seen in some family members and friends houses and comes in different patterns and even different shades, styles and finishes. There’s simply so much to choose from when it comes to parquet! This is the perfect choice if you want your flooring to be unique and stand out from others – with so much customisation available, you really can have your perfect flooring that is different to all of your friends.

Laminate Flooring

Obviously home renovations can cost quite a bit so sometimes it is best to look for the cheaper but still good quality option which is where laminate flooring comes in. Made to be similar in appearance to the wood and stone flooring available, they actually consist of several different levels of a variety of materials. This is a great option if you are trying to renovate on a budget but still want your house to look great. Cheap or cheaper doesn’t have to mean shoddy quality, there are some great laminate styles out there.

Obviously flooring is still only potentially in the pipeline right now but it is good to know that there is so much choice out there. We will certainly be able to find the flooring type that not only suits our family but also suits our budget too.

Have you changed your flooring recently?
