Dear Jacob,
WOW time really flies when you have kids but it certainly feels quicker than ever thinking that you are now 4.
You are the youngest of all 3 of my children and yet you have been the most testing at this age.
Within minutes of being born I took one look at you and I told your Daddy that you have been here before. With your knowing eyes I knew you would keep me on your toes.

You were quite a placid baby and at around 1 you became what we affectionally call, our smiling assassin. You like to test our patience and you did it with a smile on your face!
Over the last couple of years you have been going to the same nursery as your brother went too and have really come into your own. You have a hard core little group of friends that you adore and who seem to adore you too. Who wouldn’t though you really are a funny little guy who takes great delight in making your friends and family laugh.

This year you have proved me wrong. I had presumed due to your earlier character traits that you were going to be a bit of a bruiser. However, I am secretly pleased you have mellowed with time and are now such a sensitive little boy who thrives on taking care of others and who becomes increasingly concerned if one of your peers or your family members seem sad. Often this goes hand in hand with you sharing your humour in order to cheer people up.
Jacob this year you have met your speech and hearing obstacles and appointments head on and had some fun with it too.
Although not massively delayed your speech is a little bit behind where it should be for a child your age. Initially it frustrated you that some of your peers couldn’t understand you. But your relentless perseverance and determination always wins through and you keep on trying.
Hopefully this coming year we will be able to get you some further help to make sure you are always understood.
The coming year will also see you take some massive step in terms of firsts as you will head off to school in September and I have no doubt you will face it with your usual charm and excitement. Or at least till you realise its an everyday thing and then it might wain ever so slightly.
I am so very proud of the little boy you have become and of the little boy you are still becoming.
You, my youngest son will be the one that keeps me on my toes and challenges me but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Have an amazing 4th birthday my precious little fella
