Dear Joshua
Well the day I have been dreading this month is now less than 24 hours away … You my little man are about to turn 3!
Over the last 3 years I have thanked my lucky stars that you even made it here safely to be with us, we spent so long preying we would get to take you home after the whole 9 months of worry.
As your first year or so passed there were elements of your character starting to shine through but nothing could of prepared me for this last few months …. you have continued to grow and are now most certainly a little boy in the making who likes nothing more than gesticulating wildly while trying to convince me that Peppa Pig “NEEDS” to be on for another hour!
After much reluctance to the the big boy potty and your complete denial that in fact nappies were only now for night time, its so lovely to now see your acceptance to the plastic pot and loving your big boy pants
You have had some amazing adventures this last year from Whitby, Menorca, Corsica and Skegness and you loved each trip equally for different reasons but most of all you have just loved being with us.
Last August you started nursery, 2 mornings a week for you to make friends and be with other 2 year olds, you loved it … I am the only parent at the nursery that has to collect my screaming child under my arm to remove them as they don’t want to go home, its commonly known as the underarm extraction! I am not sure what that says about me or them but in fairness I am just pleased you love it so much.
You have learnt some hard lesson this year in that .. yes Mummy is going to shout at you when she has asked you for the 5th time to stop throwing your toys at the fireplace .. although you know you could probably get away with it till at least 10 times with Daddy. You have learnt that by saying “my mouth is empty” does not mean we are going to run off to the kitchen and cook you food .. it means you should of eaten what was on your own plate at lunchtime!
You have also developed a super sense of humour and love to make us laugh even if its at your expense with your ability to make up words of your very own!
Happy Birthday my little man .. I can’t wait to see what the next year holds for you, you make me so proud.
