We were invited to see the Drayton Manor Theme Parks 65th anniversary Fireworks Spectacular tonight and we were more than excited to attend, the park for us is one of our favourite places to visit as it’s only just over an hour away in the car and it also hosts the amazing Thomas Land so it goes down well with Joshua!
We arrived late afternoon/early evening and were really pleased we were still able to visit the fantastic rides at Thomas Land and we had the opportunity to visit the rides on the larger part of the park too as the rides were open till 9pm, however the queues were slightly longer than the normal daytimes when we have visited before.
With music being pumped round the park and lots of extra stalls selling things like flashing merchandise and some extra outdoor catering brought in on top of the normal offerings (cash only for some of these) it did make for a really buzzing atmosphere.
The fireworks begin at 8pm (although are starting at 7pm on Saturday and Sunday) and were based around the War of the Worlds, which were set to a critically acclaimed soundtrack, which was utterly breathtaking….. There is an area cordoned off with lots of space on the way in from entrance 2 so even though there were lots of folks there was more than enough space in grassed area.

The finale for the fireworks I have to say totally blew me away … there was not a single area as I looked up in the sky that was not awash with colour, it really was one of the best ever displays I have ever witnessed … I only wish my camera skills were better as my photos really do not do it justice! …

Next on our visit list is the Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas event which will be available on selected dates from Saturday 21st November until 31st December …. I hope the Christmas event is as good as the fireworks!
