Earlier in the year I shared the joy of Joshua’s new pets, 2 guinea pigs called Mario and Luigi and it has been an utter joy to watch Joshua thrive into a seriously content pet owner that takes pride in his new companions.
When we started out contemplating letting Joshua have a pet we were really aware that we had to rain in his expectations of what we could allow him to have due to space, cost and maintenance. If we had given into his request he would have picked a pack of dogs or even something bigger like a horse so we had to stick with only offering him a small pet or two so hamsters, guinea pigs or a rabbit were the only thing offered to him.
Recently we were asked by Petplan Equine, one of the UK’s leading Equine insurance providers what Joshua’s horse would look like if he had a horse and so with it being the summer holidays he took to his room to create his own dream horse.
This is cookie, he is a mixture of cookie dough and smarties so I am glad he is only a dream make believe horse!
Our friends at Petplan Equine Horse insurance knew we couldn’t have a real horse right now so they very kindly had ‘Cookie’ made for Joshua and he was utterly thrilled when his new pal arrived last week.
Although Joshua is positive he would make a good horse owner after telling him he would have to spend a lot of time in a field caring for a real horse and even visiting on Christmas day no matter what the weather is there would be no play house to sit in like when it rains with guinea pigs … he has decided to change his mind and love Cookie and keep the pets that he has for now but when he is an adult he has decided he would want a real horse then …
Thank you Petplan for allowing a boy to dream and getting his dream horse made for him. At least he is now appreciating the pets he has now and dreaming for when he is an adult!
