The Essential List Of Car Journey Prep With Kids

The Essential List Of Car Journey Prep With Kids The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThe weather is on the turn and the winter is gasping firmly at the fingers making them cold and icy.

I am sure we are not alone in the fact we tend to use our cars more over the winter period so It’s important to get your car serviced regularly, so choosing a trustworthy garage like Kwik Fit is very important.

We also need to start to organise a winter car prep plan that includes what we need to be doing over the winter and what we need to keep in the car in case of any winter breakdowns.

I have to admit that the first thought of breaking down in the winter isn’t actually about the weather it’s about keeping the kids entertained.

If you have broken down before you will know that sometimes it can take over an hour for any breakdown assistance to get to you. So finding things to leave in the car that cold weather won’t cause any issues with or things that don’t run on batteries as they won’t always hold charge is a must.

Car Boot Essentials:
For me I take a trip into the local £1 store and buy some car boot essentials for the kids … paper, crayons, some cheap plastic cars and little pocket games. All things that don’t take up too much room in the car but can be left there until needed.

While in the £1 shop I also buy 5 pairs of super wooly socks for us all. Some chocolate snacks and some bottles of water. Also baby wipes, nappy bags, a book and ponchos/umbrellas to keep in there too.

The more practical stuff for the boot will include jump cables, spade, blankets, torch, first aid kit and breakdown triangle or marker

Before Each Journey
Work out if your journey needs you to be there in a set time, add on 30 minutes extra. Winter weather means cars travel slower in line with the conditions and you don’t want to be trying to go faster than the conditions allow.

Make sure you wipe down all the lights and have your car boot essentials still in place and that someone hasn’t taken the water out the boot because someone forgot water for a football training session!

Weekly
Make sure you are checking your tyres, oil, antifreeze and washer jets levels. Also make sure you have over a quarter of a tank of fuel in there at all times incase you encounter standstill traffic or breakdowns from others.

For a bigger list of essentials that will keep you on the road this winter why not check out this super e-book.
