Bonfire night this year was a little different but in a good way. Last year we went the whole hog and spent vast amounts of cash and lots of hours stuck in a pitch black field with a wee one that was not impressed nor happy at being out after bedtime with no toys to play with! the tween was equally peeved at the amount of mud and at how uncool it was to remain near her parents as there really was nothing much to do!
This year obviously feeling anxious about the whole event when we were invited to meet with some friends and travel a little further afield to an event in their village we thought this would be a fantastic idea, great friends, some laughs and a firework or two .. perfect!
When we arrived we loved the fact that there seemed loads more to do and see than at the one the year before we paid a fortune to get into.
There was a small but reasonably priced fairground, massive fire and lots of space to get near the display and fire without burning off your eyebrows (those of you that know me will know I don’t have enough eyebrows to waste!)
Joshua absolutely loved the firework display this year and he never took his eyes off them from start to finish.
The tween was also very excitable at this years event too as there were some almighty rides all to induce puke in my book, spinning round in circles while the G force kicks in and tips sideways is never going to be on my list of things to do.. she loved it though!
I am so glad that this year both children found something they both loved and we loved an amazing night with them both without a massively expensive bill and some doughnuts to boot!

Looks like great fun and you’re photos are amazing.
We didn’t go to fireworks this year as Sebastian is too young but I have missed them! Not impressed with various neighbours having their own parties though – some at 11pm waking the kids #grrrr
you see that is so why i prefer organised events i am not a fan of home parties as some of them take the mick (only some)
Love love love fireworks – we delayed ours this year and had it on the 6th which made it more special as it was just for us x
aww thats super lovely, we always rely on an organised event so have to go with the flow x
It can be tricky accommodating such wide interests/needs sometimes can’t it, but when it works it’s brilliant. I love your photos too-great images. Neither of mine are very keen on fireworks-prefer to watch from safety of the house!
its a nightmare to get something that both enjoy so this really was fab x
Sounds like a perfect bonfire night. Great pics of the fireworks, mine didn’t come out at all.
i took millions in the hopes that some of them would work lol xx
Sounds like a really good night. Good fireworks displays are the best, but they’re awful when you’ve got kids freaking out!
thankfully my kids werent freaking, last year Joshua did lol
Wow great photos! We went to the local village one and whilst it was perfect for our boys, we were waiting for the big ending! You know when all the big ones burst over the sky! Maybe next year! xx
i do hate that when they just dont happen!! x
You did an amazing job with the firework shots here! Sounds like a lovely evening. Don’t forget to add it to Country Kids, my post is our Bonfire party too!
thanks Fiona, I am shocked i managed to get any good ones 🙂 x
Looks like you had a fab time, the fireworks looked amazing
thanks Amanda they were amazing x
Such amazing pictures x
thanks honey x
How wonderful Jaime, it sounds like you all had a great time which is brilliant. It’s so nice getting out to the fireworks isn’t it, we took POD out to a display too and it was awesome. Happy Monday lovely, have a good week – try not to stroke that fireplace too much 🙂
lol i am so glad POD had a fab fireworks night too!
p.s fireplace issues so not getting fitted
great photos! We did sparklers and I was a nervous wreck worrying!
gosh i am terrified of sparklers .. i am not sure why but the have always terrifed me x
Stunning pics given the lighting Jaime, very impressed 🙂 Looks like you had a great time xx
thanks honey xx
Sounds like you had a fabulous time. We haven’t been to an organised event since the kids were born, mainly because it’s always worried me that the kids wouldn’t enjoy it, being so big, noisy and busy. We usually do some stuff at home, which works well, maybe next year, we will go out instead! 🙂
how lovely that you do something at home, no mater how you do it, spending time together no matter what your doing is always fab x
Aside from the fireworks, I love your little boy’s hat, super cute!
awww thanks Luci, its getting a little small these days lol
Fabulous photos. Glad all of you had a lovely time. Personally, I just think tots and noisy fireworks don’t go together. Well, mine doesn’t! x
last year i so so would of agreed and if i am honest i wasnt looking forward to it as i thought Joshua would hate it this time too, however he did love it x
Sarah i honestly took millions of them and these were the only ones that came out! lol x
We don’t do Guy Fawkes Night over here in N.I so its always lovely to see how you beautiful English folk celebrate it! The fireworks looked amazing and those photos are cracker! #magicmoments x
aww thank you Debs, i forget not everyone does them x
Lovely pictures, my two prefer to watch fireworks from indoors. One day we’ll find an autism-friendly display for them!
aww bless, i have to say the loud bangs make me flinch x
Great photos.
We also went to a local event – it was really small in the village, but lovely to see the firecworks and N enjoyed them after I remembered to put on his ear defenders
i am going to get some of those next time!! what fab planning on your part, i was so disorganised x
What gorgeous photos – sounds like you had a fantastic night, well done!
thanks Kate i was really dreading it xx
sounds like you all had a really lovely evening..great photos too xx
thanks Wendy xx
Beautiful fireworks! We didn’t do anything at all, bah humbug. Our neighbours (thankfully not the nearest ones) have been celebrating at least a week in advance and are still making as much noise as possible days later.
now thats why its disappointing .. why do people have to go to extremes! x
Fab photos!Sounds like a fantastic evening!

it certainly was 🙂
That sounds lovely – I LOVE fireworks night, but I missed it last year as C was due any day, and this year we were away, next year I will be totally on it!
Finally catching up on Magic Moments from nearly 2 weeks ago!
no worries honey, i cant wait to hear how next year goes for you xx
Sounded like a great Bonfire night – we actually missed it out this year because we couldn’t find any venues that were good value for money for a family of 6!
how gutting!! the one we went too was a donation only and hubby was cross for giving them £5 for all of us! lol x
