From Baby To Toddler

From Baby To Toddler The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseI am sat here feeling quite bereft, my baby is no longer my baby and is in fact now a toddler, this realisation has been brewing under the surface for some time however I have been burying my head in the baby wipes in the hopes I could keep just a little part of my boy a baby .. wrong or not that is whats happened!

We bought Joshua a toddler bed many many months ago and set it up, bought curtains, bedding and had the room ready to go but I have found excuse after excuse not to move him into it, we need a safety gate for his door, we are going on holiday in a few weeks, I’m at Britmums Live that weekend …

Well we finally took the plunge a week ago and its been received with mixed reactions from us all. The first evening we put him to bed he was excited to start but that followed about 5 minutes of tears …. then a full undisturbed night of sleep all round (or so everyone thought as I snook in several times in the night just to check he was alright.. and yes I have a baby monitor)

Joshua has been very impressed with his big boy room and wants to show everyone his room, including the postman while I signed for a parcel! (he politely declined …Phew)

From Baby To Toddler The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseHowever all is not perfect, Joshua has now decided to cry at around 3 am each night shouting “DADDY HELP MEEEEEEE” …….. we are all shattered and crave sleep, however it has really made me realise that my baby days with Joshua are really well and truly over and Joshua the fully fledged toddler is now here…

Bless him! It has to happen, but it’s hard when it’s your youngest. I still lift my daughter in and out of bed and she’s 7! So funny he wanted the postman to look at his new bed!

It is scary just how quickly it happens Jaime. When I look at my “baby” and realise she’s 20 months old now and trying to be so grown up, I want to shout no, slow down. We had to move her to a toddler bed about 3 weeks ago, so far so good, she has taken it in her stride, but I still feel a bit gutted looking at her lying asleep in a proper bed and realising, my babies are gone and I now officially have 2 toddlers! So I understand how you’re feeling, it would be great to bottle that baby magic and be able to just bring it out when we needed a fix ha xx

My 2 1/2 year old’s still in his cotbed with the sides up. I’d be happy to move him although he’s fine with it, the OH doesn’t see the need to change him. which is fine, but he’ll never remove the sides until N learns to climb out and so far apart from one leg being put over, there’s no further attempt. I’m quite looking forward to the next stage for him.

I’ve linked up for the first time.

Arrhh, he really is adorable and although my two are pretty big now, the youngest being almost 11, I can still remember the move to a ‘big bed’. We had quite a few nights of little sleep – funny how neither felt they could get out of bed and come into our room though. They would just scream like a banshee and we would come racing in convinced their lives were in danger!

I’ll be just the same when it comes time to move the wee girl into a bed 🙁 Not for a while yet thankfully! When we moved our younger boy (when he learnt how to climb out of the cot…) we kept him in a grobag in the hope that he’d stay put, he very quickly learnt how to do a Maggie Simpson in it!

Hope the 3am calls stop soon x
