Jaime Oliver’s Turkey Surprise Recipe

So a few weeks ago I was involved with a twitter party with the lovely people at British Turkey and some bloggers about the benefits of cooking with Turkey.

While on my weight loss journey I have been constantly looking at making a concerted effort to actually work on some new recipes however after my batch cooking cock up I have become incredibly nervous cooking at all now.

So after a twitter conversation with the lovely Filipa at Gourmet Mum  and Galina at Chez Maximka we decided to give it a go cooking a turkey dish and to blog about it.

Now already being a nervous cook and with my obsession for meat gloves/freezer bags I was really feeling the pressure but could this Jaime Oliver pull the rabbit out of the hat or should I say turkey out  of the oven?

After seeing the recipes and results from Filipa and the recipe and results from Galina I was in full panic mode! What would I cook?? ………..

So I went with parts of other recipes that I had liked and made my own …. obviously named Jaime Oliver’s Turkey Surprise .. the surprise is you can make it up as you go along and add the veg that you and you’re family will like and also try to also use Red Tractor ingredients where ever we can, to ensure we support farmers in the UK and also so we know our ingredients are  produced  by responsible production standards.

So here goes …

Feeds:

  • 4-5 People

Ingredients:

  • 573g Turkey Breast (Red Tractor Assured)
  • 65g Chorizo Sausage (I used slices as they were out of sausage so it works with either)
  • 1 Large onion (Red Tractor Assured)
  • 3 Peppers (Red Tractor Assured)
  • I can of sweetcorn
  • 500g Passata
  • Pinch of Oregano

So after all that hard work did I cock up??

Jaime Oliver's Turkey Surprise Recipe The Oliver\\\'s Madhouse It seems not and it was in fact a hit! With  no whiffs of burning either! …… who know’s maybe I can cook after all?

Well done, I don’t cook any meat in our house, saying that I don’t cook much at all despite my husband buying me a lovely range cooker about 18 months ago, however my husband is very good at cooking x

Yum yum – this looks lovely. I always burn onions and somehow never thought of blending them… mhm maybe because I am too lazy to clean the blender. What’s a girl gotta do? 🙂 x

Well done to you. This looks delicious. I too like the blending onions idea as the hubby is a picky eater and spends more time picking ‘bits’ out than he does eating most days! Going to give this a go, I love being adventurous in the kitchen 🙂
