This year I tried something new.
This year I got to relive my childhood love of horror films in real life with a jolly good scare.
Nott’s Maze is in Nottinghamshire my home county and has been running for a few years now. I have seen it advertised on social media but hadn’t really looked into going.
The maze has paths that are approximately 2.5 miles in length and has activities situated around the maze for some family fun.
However for a set amount of days in October Nott’s Maze spends its night times scaring the bejesus out of horror loving adults!
This year some of my amazing friends decided to go one Saturday night and after a last minute decision I decided to go too.
After all there is nothing like a good old scare!
We arrived there easily donned with walking boots and easy to run in clothing! When we got there the parking was plentiful.
My friends and I arrived in several cars and on arriving we were scared to death of the damn clown that appeared and ran for us.
So much so we lost our first friend as her full on phobia of clowns kicked in and after locking herself in the car and the clown setting off the car alarms she bowed out of entering the maze any further!
If you have any doubts about trying out this event you really need to make sure you are 100% ok for going as the ticket price this year was £15 per person and it is totally none refundable.
You can arrive anytime from 7pm for the scare maze up until 9pm and closing is at 11pm. We arrived at 7pm and after showing tickets we headed inside.
The Nott’s Maze is well lit on the outside but not so inside. Once you enter the corn field the light gets spooky and with the wind rustling through the corn it ramps up the scare factor.
On the first turn we all jumped, screamed and ran. But it’s always the unfit and older one that lags behind and so I was chased by the first character. One of my friends got her brave on and rescued me while we all laughed at how much we all were scared!
Throughout the maze we were met with characters that spoke and those that lurked, hidden in the corn.
There were clues and riddles placed in the maze and at the start we were given a clipboard to write down our answers along the way for a sweet at the end!
At certain places within the maze there are larger areas cut back and one of them there are lights and eerie music playing and with several junctions to enter the maze it can become packed with the scary character and it can also be a great place to chase you from!
Once the corn maze labyrinth is completed this year you got the chance to visit the ‘Village’ located just up the hill there are some interesting ‘cough cough’ characters awaiting your arrival.
As we passed through some of us nearly tripped on tree branches and overhanging foliage. Making us jump even more.
Once completed we headed to by a drink and snack back at the beginning and were feeling brave till the damn clown appeared again …
For £15 it was money well spent for an evening of scares, laughter and fun.
It was great to have a different kind of evening out. Although not sure I will ever watch children of the corn ever again!
Thanks for a great night Nott’s Maze.
