Recently we were asked if we would like to review a Segway Forest Experience and both Ollie and I and we were so so excited. Now living only 30 minutes from the Go Ape at Sherwood Pines in Nottinghamshire and having been to that forest earlier in the year to hire bikes, we had been considering going since seeing them then!
On arriving I was so excited, so after reading the disclaimers, getting kitted up with a really rather fetching helmet it was time for lesson 1!
First off let me say I have never ever been on something so odd in all my life, now by odd I don’t mean bad, what I do mean is that in order to move the Segway you have to rely on balancing and I have non … to move forward you need to push your handle forward I can only admit that I looked like I was bunny hopping round for the first 10 minutes….. however I soon got the hang of it and after around 15 minutes in the training area with my group it was time to go into the forest.
We were given some safety guidelines and we proceeded to head off into the forest with our group. I decided to stay at the back as I was really unconfident compared to some and Ollie (hubby) was behind me with a member of staff following behind.
We went up hill, down hill, through mud, bracken and trees and although I was probably the most rubbish at getting to grips at it, Ollie kept nearly running into me, so I soon learnt!!
It really was an exhilarating, whizzing through the bracken, trees and undergrowth on what can only be described the most amazing exciting trip through the forest I have ever had!
I nearly bought Ollie a gift voucher for this for his birthday back in March and I changed my mind as I thought he wouldn’t like it, however I loved it!!
I most certainly would love to do it again and take my daughter (age 12) and I would also love to take the girls (my friends) I know they would love it too.
Next time I don’t think we will wait till a special occasion to go, it was fantastic!

It looks like a lot of fun! Not sure about the climbing stuff at these kinds of places but the Segway looks easy enough lol.

I’ve always fancied that, and my husband would love to try. I might look into it fir next year as a birthday treat as we’re not too far from there. I’d be like you though, take me a while to get confident and stick to the back!

Age appropriate, that would be a great experience for the whole family, what great fun and a lovely way to see the forest! I would think it would work your core muscles as you have to balance so well. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

Was it really that good? I’d be worried I’d be too rubbish at it lol. We opted for the tree climbing instead but this was an option – sounds like you really enjoyed yourself too. Did you feel it was really active too
