Life lately has changed for us all and its been a humbling experience but also a difficult on for people on so many levels.
We have been struggling with the new lockdown normal and so when I heard about The Great British Camp Out last bank holiday weekend I knew that this is exactly what we needed as to do as a family. We need to get back to what we love and that is family camping, even if that is only in the back garden. And what is even better is the fact that one of our regular camping store Go Outdoors is supporting this, having even changed their logo to Go Indoors!
Last year we upgraded out tent after 3 years of family camping in a super basic starter tent we wanted an ease of use version and this new one was a family air tent!
After initially falling out over how to blow the tent up we figured it out and never looked back. It was far quicker than our old poled version.
The kids were excited from the off and with much hilarity and unrivalled excitement I knew that getting the kids to camp and #stayindoors was a massive hit. We are super lucky to have a nice garden and making use of that space has been priceless.
With lockdown in place we had missed a couple of camping weekends already but it honestly felt like we were away even when we weren’t.
The kids have loved camping so much that a pop up tent has been handy to have at home. Ours has been used inside and out and it fits both kids in so a bedroom sleepover has been had in the tent too!
No weekend away would be complete without a BBQ and eating outside so our trusty and much loved Cadac safari chef 2 has been amazing and this year we decided to not invest in the garden BBQ we had wanted and use what we had! It was a wise choice.
The whole weekend was spent laughing, sleeping, relaxing and spending time as a family sitting in the sun on camping chairs as a family and I can’t tell you just how much we not only loved it but needed it too.
Initially I did question if camping out in the garden for the weekend was slightly bonkers but I can confirm that there is probably more garden camp outs to be had before I go back to work on July 4th!
After all with a big camp out planned later in the year we need to know exactly what else we need to organise for the trip, including what camping storage cupboards we need as I like organised chaos when camping!
Here’s to more family fun and fresh air all while staying indoors!
Who else has been doing some fun things while #stayingindoors ?
