The Importance Of Sleep

The Importance Of Sleep The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseThose of you that have been around here for a while know that I have been struggling of late with my menopause symptoms and that combined with my weight gain and poorly pelvis means that sleep has been intermittent at best.

Then add in our ailing 9-10 year old mattress and I am not afraid to say that I have been totally shattered with interrupted sleep and pain when I wake. not to mention the pain getting comfortable.

So over the last year I have been looking at what effects poor sleep can have on your day to day life but did you know just what can be effected with poor or disturbed sleep?

1, Mental Ability
When you don’t sleep enough then it will eventually affect your mental ability. It can hinder your concentration, cause brain fog. Which when I add to my already struggling brain fog from menopause.

2, Physical Issues
Lacking sleep can cause physical issues, like clumsiness and higher than normal blood pressure. Not to mention putting you at a higher risk of high blood pressure, weight gain and even weakening your immunity. Add to that the poor balance and it’s not a pretty sight!

3. Emotional Issues
Emotionally when you’re lacking in sleep it will limit your ability to manage and maintain your emotions. It can often cause you to be quick tempered and moody too!

The Importance Of Sleep The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseFor me I have been trying to address many things in my life to do with my well being and self care and after years of neglect to myself I am aware that how you sleep, what you eat and how you move your body or not all play detrimental factors in how your body and mind functions.

Since Christmas I have been mindful that I need to take better care of myself and have been addressing food as a starting bloke but I have to be honest and say that in fairness is an easy fix in compassison to sleep.

I have suffered over the last 6 months with insomnia and poor quality of sleep and I know that a bad mattress can only hinder those blissful hours of rest.

So since we were sent a Origin Hybrid Pro mattress for a review a while back I have been trying to increase my sleep quality and support a better quality of sleep.

The new mattress is a premium mattress that caters for everyone as it caters for all sleep positions and for us it was being able to be comfortable as a side sleeper and a back sleeper was great.

It contains 8 layers of quality materials to make up for with heat wicking and orthopaedic properties which have only helped my disjointed sleep. I have been sleeping longer and experiencing deep quality sleep for the first time in a long while. Obviously with a pelvic and back condition, a new mattress was not going to fix everything but its certainly helped to get me sleeping better. A full review of the Origin Hybrid Pro mattress can be found HERE.

Although moving more and exercise have yet to be implemented with better food and better quality of sleep I am starting to reap the benefits of being more alert. I can focus better and I generally feel much better in myself.

Life is not perfect and there are still so many things that I want to tweak to support my mental and physical well being but this has felt like a massive improvement and I feel I can tackle almost anything with improved sleep quality.
