If you are a regular reader you will know that I tend to do some run of the mill round up gift guides showcasing snippets of products that I think might make great options for those looking to buy this festive season.
Today however I am going to be doing something a little different. Yes I am sharing my thoughts on what might make a great gift. However, in this instance I am sharing a more in-depth view of why I think Wonder Workshop’s ‘Dash’ will make a good choice this Christmas.
So why Dash?
For me Dash has to be a consideration because it take fun and technology to a level that my 7 year old son loved. Dash is an interactive educational and customisable robot that is designed to sense its environment and can even be programmed wirelessly with the use of a tablet or phone on the apps. Yes thats right there is more than one.
When Dash arrived he was ready to play and after downloading the apps to my sons tablet and updating Dashes software he really was ready to play.
Joshua loved the fact with the apps you start on mini tasks and build up the steps to make him move around, talk and even flash his eyes. Joshua was taught that for each step you need to think about a pathway of requests to make him work. Initially Joshua took a little while to understand that you can’t skip steps and jump ahead but he now understands that each step is vital to make Dash do what he wants him to do.
I loved how some steps you were able to choose Dash’s responses including sounds and movements so Joshua could make him totally his own. Also we loved how you could personalise Dash further with accessories and toys you can buy separately and some of those are certainly on Christmas list for Joshua’s new friend.

Personally I love how he is learning transferable skills through play and how this is giving Joshua key coding and programming knowledge and how Dash helps Jacob keep learning with the option of buying the new accessories and additional apps.
Dash currently retails at around £154.99 and more information can be found on Wonder Works website.
