This years weather so far has been interesting if not glorious on some days.
In the blink of an eye the minus conditions gave way to almost mid summer heat. And we as a family finally got the chance to get out and blow away the cobwebs visiting Rufford Park in Nottinghamshire.
Getting To Rufford Park
For us travelling to Rufford Park is super simple with the A614 being a fairly main route not far from us. Once there, Rufford Park has dedication car park which during weekends and holidays times you do have to pay £3.50 but entry to the park is free.
The Lake
Part of the draw for many is the beautiful lake that sweeps around one side of the park. It makes for a beautiful walk when you do the full circuit round the lake. On the far side is a couple of shops and a tearoom to get a drink and snack from. There is also a ford located there that as kids we sent hours watching drivers plough through the water. On this trip we didn’t have time to walk the whole way round to called by one edge of it to see some of the ducks.
Jacob was fairly tired when we set out on this outing so we went in search of the park which the kids loved! it was fairly manic on there with so many others taking the time to escape the house too but the kids did enjoy it.
After some kid centred park fun we headed around a little bit of the gardens and then decided to head home.
What I love About Rufford Abby Country Park
You really can make of it as you like. If you only have an hour or so to while away thats fine a quick blast round the lake will cute mustard. But if more time is on offer you really can make the day of it and no 2 trips have to be the same.
Every year we say that we will get the family together with a picnic and a football and spend the day there all together. So far it has never happened due to so many other commitments but maybe this year could be our year.
With tea rooms and cafes on site we don’t really even need to take a picnic but at least we have plenty of choices!
Places To Play
Rufford park has lots of things for kids to do with lots of open space, ducks to feed and even the new play park there is plenty of things to keep the kids amused with all at your own pace.
There is nothing like wearing the kids out with some good old fresh air and Rufford Park will be getting several more visits this Spring from us.
Ahh I remember visiting here. Such a lovely place. Miss not being there xx
