What are the Best Options For Getting a Family Car?

What are the Best Options For Getting a Family Car? The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseAre you in the market for a family car? Whether this is your first family car or you are looking to make a change, it is important that you take the time to find the right vehicle. This is a vehicle that you are likely to rely on each day and will need to fit with your family’s needs and lifestyle. So, what are the best options for a family car?

Practicality

Practicality is key when buying a family car. While every family is different, you will find that there are certain categories that are suited to different sizes of families. Families of 4 or less can get away with smaller cars like a saloon, hatchback or estate car while those with 4+ (or plans to grow) will want to look into an SUV, crossover or people carrier.

Buying Options

You also need to consider the best way to pay for the car so that it does not interfere with your finances too much. The main options include:

Buying outright: This works out to be the cheapest option but may not be feasible as you have to pay a large sum upfront.

Financing: Alternatively, you can arrange a finance deal. Financing allows you to spread the cost of the cost over monthly instalments. Although easier to manage and fit into a budget, this will work out as slightly more expensive due to interest.

Leasing: An option worth considering is leasing instead of purchasing. With leasing, you never technically own the car and will make monthly payments until the end of the agreement. After this, you do not have to worry about selling and can simply take out a new lease. You can get an electric car through a leasing plan and this could be a great way to drive the best and latest cars every few years.

Safety

Safety is always an important factor, but particularly for a family car as you will usually have kids in the back. Therefore, you want to choose a car with a good Euro NCAP rating as well as a range of car safety features, such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind-spot monitoring just as a few examples.

Efficiency

Parents will often prioritise fuel efficiency as a way to keep their running costs down, so you want to find a car with a high MPG. As mentioned earlier, you could opt for an electric car as a way to make significant long term savings while also protecting the planet.

Hopefully, this post will help you on your search for your next family car. This is a major decision and one that you want to get right, so you should take your time and identify a car that will fit in with

your family needs and lifestyle.
