However, what we don’t realise is that we have so many amazing places on our own doorstep that we can visit to equally escape reality, have a great time, and save money without the added stress of travelling to the other side of the world, just for a bit of sunshine.
This is not to say that the weather in the UK is all bad. However, we do know that if we’re British that it can be quite unpredictable and that we’re definitely not going to be guaranteed any sunshine. So if this is something that doesn’t really bother you that much and you can cope with a bit of rain or the odd cloudy day, then visiting other places in the UK instead of travelling far away for a bit of sunshine can actually be one of the best things you can ever do. If you’re going to be travelling with children, then it can be even more relaxing and enjoyable for a family to explore some of your own country.
Diverse Landscapes:
The UK might be a small island but it has very diverse landscapes, from south to north, wether it’s the Scottish Highlands or the White Cliffs of Dover, there’s really so much nature. With so much diverse landscape within this country that we have all probably not even seen a fraction of it. We need to take the time to get out and explore what’s already on our doorstep, for an even deeper appreciation for the country that we live in.
Stunning Nature:
The UK boasts some of the greenest areas in Europe, if not the whole world, and places like Loch Lomond or Inverness, or even places in the South of England are just simply stunning and offer so much to nature lovers, so whether you love hiking or just strolling through some fields and taking in the vast beauty around you, then you’re really going to appreciate the nature that the UK has to offer, and develop again a deeper appreciation for the country in which we live.
Easy To Get Around:
Although the UK is small, it’s not as tiny as some people do believe. However, due to the fact that the country is an island it is easy to get around, and also the fact that the transport systems provide great connections all over the country, whether it’s through airports, trains or buses, there are great connections all over the place that we can use to get around from cities and towns quickly and easily.
Rich In History & Culture:
The UK, as a whole, has some of the best history and culture that you will ever see and will truly make you proud to be British once you’re able to see it up close.
Activities For Every Budget:
One of the great things about the UK is that it does have a reasonable economy. No matter what kind of budget you’re working with you are always going to be able to find something that will suit your budget so that you can do things with your family and have fun that everyone will enjoy.
You can do things like visit places like Edinburgh Castle, the London Dungeon, or even just stroll through places like Glasgow Green and have a picnic and watch a show together.
Another way to save some money on activities for the family is to use sites like Groupon and LivingSocial where you will find lots of great deals on things like restaurants, shows and just days out for the whole family.
You can even find hotels and other overnight stays that come down as much as 80% off the advertised retail price. So it’s worth checking these out if you’re looking to save money on your budget for your trip.
Whether you are looking for something in a rural area where you can enjoy nature, or you’re looking for a city break this is plenty on offer.
Whilst travelling abroad is definitely amazing. And is something that we should be doing whenever we can, there’s certainly nothing wrong with staying within the UK. We do have such a beautiful country that it makes sense that we should explore more of it and learn to appreciate it for what it is.
No matter how your spending your holidays this year, enjoy!
