When The Back-to-School Spirit Spreads To The Household

When The Back-to-School Spirit Spreads To The Household The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseAh, when the summer holidays are over, most families experience the back-to-school phenomenon. It’s not just a matter of getting your kids ready for school and buying all the essential stationery, books and uniforms. In reality, it’s a form of contagious resolution that spreads throughout the family and makes you want to get everything ready for a fresh start. You invest in the latest trends to update your wardrobe. You look into buying your next car. And, of course, you give your home some much-needed love after the indulgence of the summer. For many, the back-to-school feeling can last until the end of October – after all, it takes time to get everything ready! And here’s how it manifests at home:

When The Back-to-School Spirit Spreads To The Household The Oliver\\\'s MadhouseForget spring, it’s the autumn clean up

If you haven’t already, it’s time to prepare your home for the long and wet winter that awaits us. For instance, if the garden has been neglected throughout the summer, now’s the best time to mow the lawn and prepare the soil. Indeed, if the soil is compact and still dry in place, you need to refresh and turn it over to encourage water absorption. This will avoid flooding risks in the long term. Similarly, if you’ve been postponing essential updates, so as giving your kitchen a fresh coat of paint or clearing out the garage: It’s best to do it while the weather is still warm – relatively warm – than to attempt these tasks in a few months’ time.

Time for renovation work before the weather changes

The beginning of autumn is the perfect time to renovate essential structural elements that might put your house at risks. A typical example is window replacement – you can look for a quote for a man and van option here to get all the equipment you need – as you’re at a time where the temperatures are pleasant. If you’ve noticed risks of mould formation, in your kitchen or bathroom, these risks will increase during the winter, so you can address the issue now and locate the source of moisture.

Get the kitchen SAD-ready

The colder months are upon us… and with them, the prospect of unhealthy treats. Most people use the weather as an excuse for the excessive consumption of sugar during the winter. In reality, you need to clear out your cupboard from junk food ahead of winter You can train yourself and your family to positive and healthy habits, such as creating sugar-free desserts – the avocado chocolate mousse is the ideal companion at the end of a meal. Pack also your fruit bowl with plenty of vitamins!

Last, but not least, it’s time to remove the summer decorations. You need to bring autumnal colours to your interiors. Needless to say that if you’ve got young children, your seasonal decor is going to include at least a pumpkin. An earthy colour palette and warm natural tones are what you need to make the most of the autumn at home!

Embrace the back-to-school frenzy and turn it into a household improvement strategy. Now’s the time to get rid of the remains of the summer and prepare for the cold months. From cleaning to looking after your health, it is the season of new resolutions!
